Going To Travel Via Train? Carry Your Aadhar Card with You
Indian railway is going to link passenger train tickets with aadhaar card. Means they are going to link train ticketing service with railway database for convenience of both passenger and railway department as well.
Its straight meaning is that aadhaar is going to be mandatory ID for traveling through railway and can’t be permitted for railway ticket if you don’t have any aadhar card. AAdhaar card is world biggest biometric identity provider project which tends to provide this facility to Indian people on free of cost going to become mile stone of Indian railway for traveling purpose.
Aadhaar Card Importance
As per official railway department is ready to take over this process shortly of linking aadhaar with train ticket. It means that railway ticketing service and aadhaar card link process complete through which passenger’s who got their train ticket will link with railway database system to stop many cases and crime which involved in this process.
The railway department is in restriction of Supreme Court order which was released last year to use aadhaar card for only two purposes one for public distribution system (PDS) and second one is for LPG subsidy scheme or LPG connection.
Aadhar Card Project
Unique Identification Authority Of India (UIDAI) project was begin in 2009, means started 7 years ago, for people who belong to minority and consider below the poverty line. The main motive to provide this ID proof is very simple and straight by Indian Government to Indian citizen. It means that to provide basic facility to poor like to access government provided scheme like banking, lpg connection for those have not any valid passport, driving license, or any digital proof of identity. In later the project of linking of various documents with aadhaar card has also started.
While as per SC order, this proof is not needed to have all Government provided facility to people. So this case is still is hanged with Indian constitution for their decision on this whole matter.
Linking With Train Ticket
The railway department has divided this project in two phases for its successful implementation. And used to provide its benefits to people shortly in coming time.
First Phase: In this stage, it is required to give aadhar number to get various benefits related to it for people related to any kind of quotas category like for senior citizens, physically handicapped, students, unemployed person, freedom fighters. Indian railway department will going to provide big discount in train fares to 53 categories. Railways official has announced this scheme and implemented with approval with coming month.
Second Phase: It will take some time to implement, near about two to three months. In second or final phase of this project, railway department will going to link all kind of passenger tickets with aadhar card. It means that all kind of passenger while they belong to reserve category or general have to show the Unique identification number provided by Indian Government during ticket booking. It is implemented for kind of booking system online or counter reservation.
Aadhar Linking With Railway Ticket
In the beginning, this facility is provided to reserved category people but in later it is available to all category passengers. By doing so, it will provided guarantee that only original passenger will travel on his ticket in specified train. Railway official has said that many of us have aadhaar, so this is good news and will not affect to any sector much.
As per our Government record, 96% of Indian people have their aadhar card. By doing this railway has also many advantages means fraud cases can be stopped, ticket which are sold in black market will also stop and official will also keep check on revenue profit/loss.
Aadhaar Card Number to Check Genuine Passenger
As per project, your aadhaar number will be printed on your train ticket during booking. And while travelling, it can be cross checked by ticket checker in train by entering this number into their machine provided to them which store all of the passenger information in detail. Your details include your photo graphs, thumb expression, eyes details and signature etc. So this information enough to verify the passenger. The department is going to offer 43% of subsidy to passenger who will book single side journey. It means on 100 rupees train ticket, you only have to pay 57 rupees as train fare that is quite awesome. What do you think, is not it?
Concession On Train Fare
The report says that railways department is going to spend Total of Rs.34, 000 crore on this project for 2015-16 session. Out of which Rs. 1600 crore will be spent on discount provided on train travelling. And Rs. 1200 crore will spent on senior citizens discount fare. As per official rules, male senior citizens, who have crossed 60 year of their age are provided with 40 % discount on train ticket fare while Female who have crossed 58 years of their age will provide 50 % of discount in train fare. While remaining categories like physically handicapped, any patient, deaf, dumb, cancer, heart patient can get discount in train ticket up to 75 % in train fare. Government has set it optional o get discount on train ticket for senior citizen.
